Modern style เริ่มต้นนั้นเกิดขึ้นตั้งแต่ยุคปฏิบัติอุตสาหกรรม ซึ่งในยุคนั้นเป็นการเสาะแสวงหาความเรียบง่าย อยู่ในยุคนี้ผู้คนต้องการความสะดวกสบายความรวดเร็ว และต้องการที่จะนำวัสดุใหม่ๆมาใช้แทนวัสดุแบบเดิมๆ ซึ่งวัสดุส่วนใหญ่ที่นำมาใช้ในยุคนี้ เช่น stainless อะลูมิเนียม หินแกรนิต หรือ หรือวัสดุที่มีความมันวาว ซึ่งเป็นการบ่งบอกถึงความทันสมัย สิ่งต่างๆ เหล่านี้ได้แพร่กระจายไปยังศิลปะแขนงอื่นๆ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นงานทางด้านสถาปัตยกรรม อาคารบ้านเรือน งานศิลปะภาพเขียนของศิลปิน หรือ แม้กระทั้งเครื่องแต่งกาย มีการลดทอนรายละเอียด ของงานประดับตกแต่ง นำเส้นสายแบบกราฟิกมาใช้ล้วนแต่ตอบสนองยุคแห่งการปฏิวัติอุตสาหกรรม 

ปัจจุบันงานสไตล์ Modern ยังเป็นที่นิยมอยู่และได้มีวิวัฒนาการทางเทคโนโลยีเข้ามาช่วยในการผลิตให้รูปแบบของงานมีความแตกต่างจากแต่ก่อน แต่ทั้งนี้ ทั้งนั้น ต้นแบบในยุคแรกของ Modern ก็ยังถูกนำมาเป็นแม่แบบให้กับคนรุ่นปัจจุบัน อีกทั้งยังนำรูปแบบของงานสไตล์อื่นๆมาผสมกับ Modern เพื่อให้เกิดรูปแบบผสมผสานให้เข้ากับรสนิยม

The basic principles behind this style decoration are to change the tone of places particularly of walls and of indirect light to have only necessary pieces of furniture by considering graphic forms and lines and their metallic skin, for example stainless. The overall tone of places should be in grey, white and black colours. Anyways, there can be some colourful props as picture frames, vases or carpets. By doing these, you would easily modernize your places by your own self.
