Thai Contemporary style คือการดึงเอกลักษณะของการจัดวางอาคารเรือนมาเป็นแนวคิดในการจัดวางเลย์เอาต์ การดึงเอาลักษณะเด่นต่างๆ ที่ประกอบตัวเรือนไทย อย่าง ฝาปะกนช่องแสงหรือกระทั่งประตูลั่นดาน ซึ่งรายละเอียดเหล่านี้ได้นำมาประยุกต์ใช้กับการตกแต่งบ้านแบบไทยร่วมสมัยซึ่งปัจจุบันในเมืองหลวงเอง การที่จะมีบ้านเรือนไทยสักหลังก็คงเป็นเรื่องยาก ด้วยเหตุผลเรื่องการตอบสนองต่อชีวิตความเป็นอยู่ในแบบสมัยใหม่

Thai Contemporary style จึงเป็นการผสมผสานเพื่อตอบสนองความลงตัว เครื่องเรือนส่วนใหญ่ถูกนำมาประยุกต์ใช้ ซึ่งถ้าย้อนไปในอดีต คนไทยยังไม่มีวัฒนธรรมการนั่งเก้าอี้ แต่จะมีธรรมสิกา หรือตั่งสำหรับพระและเจ้านายนั่ง เมื่อถึงยุคที่มีการเปิดรับเอาวัฒนธรรมตะวันตก จึงมีเก้าอี้รับประทานอาหาร ซึ่งเกิดการผสมผสานเข้ากันด้วยลวดลายอันวิจิตร และมีฝีมืออันประณีต ก็เกิดเก้าอี้แบบประยุกต์ รูปแบบเข้ารูปพระธรรม นำมาผสมกับบานเปิดแบบบ้านไทย จึงเกิดตู้แบบไทยประยุกต์ขึ้นได้ ซึ่งรูปแบบไทยประยุกต์นี้เกิดขึ้นจากกระบวนการคิดที่แฝงไว้ถึงความเป็นไทยอย่างลงตัว มากกว่าการเอาชิ้นส่วนของความเป็นไทยไปปะหรือติดไว้

Thai Contemporary is the style that develops the ideas of traditional Thai building layout and the key features of Traditional Thai houses i.s. wooden-plank panels, clerestories and doors with a mortise lock into modern lifestyle. This decoration style then is one of most satisfactory answers to the requirement for function and from matters. 

There was no an ancient Thai custom of sitting on a chair which was reserved for monks and the nobility. It was western culture that brought about the change in this habit. There have been dining tables and dining chairs since then. We then can find very delicate dining chairs at the present which are the adaptation from the ancient  stools. Another example is Thai-style contemporary cabinets which are adapted from ancient Buddhist scripture cabinets and hinged doors in the houses. These adaptations have to go through the process of thinking rather than the process of collage.
